About this project
Blown-in insulation added over your existing attic insulation to bring it up to modern R-value: attic inspected and photographed first, bathroom and kitchen fans confirmed venting outside, baffles installed at the eaves to protect ventilation, attic hatch weatherstripped, then cellulose or fibreglass blown to depth with a measured depth card left in the attic. Most Calgary attics built before 2000 sit at R-20 to R-30; code-level today is R-50.

Questions homeowners ask
How much does attic insulation cost in Calgary?
Attic insulation top-ups cost $2,950–$4,400 for a small attic and $5,450–$7,300 for a large one in 2026, or roughly $2.80–$4.20 per square foot depending on the R-value you finish at and whether air sealing is included.
How much will it actually save me?
Going from R-20 to R-50 typically cuts 10–20% off a Calgary heating bill. It is a real saving, but the bigger day-to-day difference is usually comfort — fewer cold rooms upstairs and fewer ice dams on the roof.
Are there rebates?
Federal and provincial efficiency programs periodically cover insulation upgrades. We prepare the documentation with the Signature package, including before-and-after depth records, which is what the programs ask for.
Should I remove the old insulation first?
Usually no. Topping up over existing insulation is standard and cheaper. Removal is only needed if there is rodent contamination, mould, or vermiculite — and if we find any of those, we stop and tell you before doing anything.
